Bellarmine students lacking in campus involvement

By Kasey Fehler and Elizabeth Gagliardi

How many clubs do you belong to? No, let me rephrase that, how many clubs are you actually involved in? Are you one of those people who signed up for every single club at the involvement fair? Now, how many of you who are signed up for 12 clubs actually attend the events held by these clubs? And if you don't go to the events, but are still on the e-mail list, do you include in your resume that you belong to all of those clubs?

Where the Wild Things Are goes to the big screen

By Rachel Candella

Where the Wild Things Are was very interestingly done. I mean that in a good way. I never read the book as a child, but apparently it was read to me. Still though, the thought of what was portrayed in the movie as a book seems very advanced for children. Throughout the movie I was really depressed and a little bit frightened of the monsters, as was meant to be.

Twilight Series: New Moon album hits stores

By Natalie Fisher

Let me start this review with an admission of truth: Yes, I read the Twilight series. A rather forceful friend talked me into it one summer, even though I'd been against it since the book's inception. But I read them and found them fleetingly enjoyable as a guilty pleasure read. I wasn't really a fan of the first film, or the soundtrack, but its fans loved it. Due to the unlikely presence of Radiohead on the first album, I was curious to see what bands would be picked for the New Moon soundtrack.

Health on campus hindered by limited options

By Timalyn Baker

Periodically, America goes on one of its "health kicks". One of the biggest I recall seeing in my lifetime is after the documentary Super Size Me came out. I remember watching it in health class at my high school and thinking, "This is the grossest thing I've ever seen in my life". The documentary sent restaurants everywhere into an uproar. Everybody was scared of being sued for having "health threatening" foods on their menu. They were not, however, scared of the fact that they were aiding in making America one of the most obese and unhealthy countries in the entire world.

Out of Ashes is a mix of emotions

By Jennifer Heil

Chester Bennington made himself stand out as he released his debut album, Out of Ashes. Bennington, originally the lead singer for Linkin Park, joined forces with other members of Julien-K, to create the band Dead by Sunrise. Out of Ashes, which was released in early October is already putting hits on charts, such as "Crawl Back In" and "Let Down."

Fanfarlo is a sweet treat

By Savannah Cox

For me, a good full-length album is as hard to find as a decent crème brûlée. While I consider myself of relatively discerning taste, it is hard to find something remotely sweet in today's contemporary music industry. Sure, you have your greasy Top-40 songs, deep fried hip-hop delights, and dreadfully sweet modern country "songs." But I note that at the end of the day, when I'm burping up the remnants of a "Twinkie-tune" filled with fatty synthesizers and starchy auto-tune, something seems to be missing: something refined, something sweet yet not overpowering, something crafted with only fine ingredients and intentions. This sweet and tasteful treat, my friends, is Fanfarlo's debut album Reservoir.

Paranoral Activity is a new kind of horror film

By Aimee Kuvadia

When we think about horror movies, we generally think of slashers in masks, girls screaming for their lives, and ominous music that keeps us on the edges of our seats. Paranormal Activity, however, is slightly more subtle than the classic horror movie, making it almost believable.

Will cell phones be the next step?

By Julia Zalewski

Sooner rather than later, this student enforced smoking ban is about to be underway, which means smoking pits will no longer be needed. So, I propose that these smoking pits be turned into cell phone pits, like the one outside of the Kennedy-Newman dorms.

Happy Hour is anything but happy

By Joshua Bowling

If you are looking for the same old thing in the music industry, Uncle Kracker's album Happy Hour is the thing for you. The first couple of songs, such as "Smile" and "My Girlfriend" sound just like every other song on the radio.

The Poet: Leader of a Feared Secret Society

By Seth Dixon

Nowadays, when many people think of the art of poetry, all that comes to mind is complete and utter boredom. We all remember those high school English classes spent interpreting poems and playing that "guess what's in my hand" game with our teachers, but we must NEVER forget the artistic value of the poem and the brilliant and often times maniacal, lives of the one behind the pen-the poet.

Maybe I've been listening to too much good rock. Or maybe I'm just getting old, but Billy Talent's newest album, III, fails to hit the mark.

By Stephanie Clouser

Maybe I've been listening to too much good rock. Or maybe I'm just getting old, but Billy Talent's newest album, III, fails to hit the mark.

Matthew Shepard Act brings hope for the future

By Ari Ballaban

I look forward to a day when coming out of the closet will not be such an ordeal for members of the LGBT (that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, for those of you who aren't savvy) community. As people mature into adults and start to understand their sexualities, I do not believe that there should be any hurdles for them to cross like this. Unfortunately, we live in a world where peoples' aggressive natures don't allow this. We live in a world where being oneself as it relates to being LGBT can result in not just social stigma, but also physical harm.

Saw VI a mental thriller

By Kati Beveridge

First, let me state that I am not a huge fan of horror movies, especially really gory ones. However, the Saw films are an exception. Last Friday, the latest addition to the jigsaw puzzle came out in theatres.
