As the weeks wind down towards the conclusion of BU's volleyball regular season, the importance of winning every game, and the pressure put on the players to deliver, increases tenfold. Bellarmine's players have felt the increased importance of winning every match, as they still have a chance to grab a spot in the GLVC tournament.

This week was a successful one for the team, who split their weekend matches against two tough foes, while seeing one of their seniors set a new all-time record at Bellarmine.

The first match was against No. 18 Indianapolis, who presented one of the toughest challenges the Knights have seen this season. The Greyhounds had a 21-game winning streak coming into the match, so the Knights had the task of taking down the GLVC Goliath. Although Bellarmine did fall in four games, they gave Indy all they could before leaving Knights Hall, finally losing 30-20, 27-30, 30-24, 31-29.

After losing two of the first three games, BU (8-15, 4-10) pushed Indianapolis to the wall in the wild fourth game, eventually forcing a game point at 29-28. Unfortunately, the Greyhounds (25-1, 14-0) won the final three points and took the match 3-1.

The match did prove to be a successful one for one Knight in particular, as senior libero Amanda Alvey became Bellarmine's all-time digs leader. In doing so Alvey broke the record of 1,456 digs previously set by Jill Bornhorn in 1998. Alvey's 22 digs in the match gave her 1,475 for her career.

Other match highlights include freshman Emily Beckman's 17 kills, a season-high for her, while Katie Wetterer had 13 kills and 11 digs and senior Chelsea Bibelhauser had 11 kills. The team totaled 14 blocks in the match, which is their second-best total of the year.

Indianapolis was led by freshmen Cheneta Morrison's game-high 21 kills. Five players on the team recorded double-digit kill totals.

The second match proved to be much more successful, and was especially important for the seniors on the team.

It was senior night at Knights Hall, and BU gave the home crowd a match worth cheering for with a 3-0 sweep of St. Joseph's, 30-23, 32-30, 30-27.
