Staff Editorial
Issue date: 4/30/08 Section: Opinion
For the majority of us, this is our last issue. Our last Monday spent in the Concord office for hours laying out pages, editing, and making fun of each other. It is a bittersweet moment. A moment where we are met with joy of being done and turning out a quality product for the year, but also with the knowledge that everything is now out of our hands. Now we must move on and say goodbye to this chapter in our lives. We've trained our new editors, but the hardest part of moving on is letting go of something that's been so important to us during our years here at Bellarmine.
We all started off as freshman that loved writing or taking pictures. We would go to the weekly newspaper meetings for the free pizza, knowing that by the end we would be frightened by the current editor's stare into taking whatever story no-one else wanted.
These past four years have taught us so much and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to grow with the paper. Each year that has passed has been a building year, and the paper has improved substantially since our freshman year (not that it could have gotten much worse).
We would like to thank all of you who have played a part in our experience as journalists and as part of the Bellarmine community. Thanks to all of you who have contributed stories or story ideas and offered feedback and criticism. Thank you to all of you that picked up the paper every week, even if it was just to do the Sudoku. Thank you to whoever decided to move us into an office with windows. Thank you to all of you in the Communication Dept. for all of your excellent guidance and for stopping by the office to make sure we are still alive or to bring us peanut butter and apples.
~Kristina White, Sabrina Sebastian, Aileen McPhillips, Danielle Fleming, Rita Dixon, Megan Carpenter
This is the Jamie Jackson segment of this editorial who only joined the Concord staff this year but has been a memorable addition to the team. "I had so much fun with all the staff. Playing on Facebook, wasting time, and putting my picture up on all the computers, now that is something I will miss.
The editors really made me feel at home and I really am going to miss all the time we spent together. This was the first year that I had worked for the Concord and as the year and my college career comes to a close I wish I worked here more than just this one year.
I also appreciate all the other editors putting up with my shenanigans from day to day. I was a constant source of distraction but they loved me anyway… I think."
