The beginning of each new school year brings many new friendships, new opportunities, and new challenges. Students begin to adjust into their new positions on campus as issues arise and news is made.

Bellarmine's student body is always known for its great involvement in student activities and school spirit. I hope that this wonderful sense of involvement can carry over into the Concord.

I strongly urge Bellarmine students to become involved. This is YOUR paper, Bellarmine, so the paper should feature stories that you are interested in.

Campus activities, national headlines, CD releases, Bellarmine sporting events--these, and more, all fall under the reign of the Concord.

If you would like to see a particular event covered, let us know!

If you would like to contribute to the newspaper through a Letter to the Editor, do not hesitate to do so!

The Presidential Election of 2008 has already provided myriad news opportunities, and I strongly encourage the Bellarmine community to become involved in this process by submitting an Opinion article supporting your favorite candidate.

The opposing candidates are obviously not the only issue in this election, though, so write in about an issue that you feel passionate about and help the Bellarmine community become more aware of the world around us.

As a freshman coming into Bellarmine, I was amazed by the great level of dedication and involvement of the entire Bellarmine community, and I look forward to watching this continue throughout the rest of my time at Bellarmine.

Now, as a sophomore, I am diving in head-first to the world of involvement available at Bellarmine, not just through my involvement in the Concord.

My staff and I spend a significant amount of time searching for stories that we think will interest and be of importance to the Bellarmine community, but it is much easier to write for an audience when we have a specific idea of what that audience is looking for from their University's newspaper.
