This had to be the easiest voting of the season so far for player of the week awards. Bellarmine baseball player Braxton Graven hit four home runs in the first game of a doubleheader to propel the Knights to victory. Because of his outstanding accomplishment, Graven (Trinity H.S./Louisville, Ky.) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 6-12.

Although his record-breaking game will be the talk of Knight lore for years to come, he had a great week of playing overall. He hit .368 (7-19) with seven RBIs, scored six runs, banged four home runs and tallied an eye-boggling 1.053 slugging percentage.

In the Knights' 11-8 loss on Tuesday, Graven went 1-for-5 with a double. He then followed that effort with a 6-for-14 performance in the two double-header set against Saint Joseph's.

It was in the most important series where Graven made his biggest impact. In the critical divisional series, Graven drove in six runs and posted seven RBIs. It was the series opener where he became a part of Bellarmine legend as he knocked four home runs out of the park. Graven was 4-for-5 with six RBIs and four runs scored. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo blast, then capped the wildly-entertaining game with a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning.

Graven is batting a team-best .365 for the season. He has also scored 21 runs, tallied 21 RBIs, hit seven doubles, four home runs and collected 23 walks. He boasts a .480 on-base percentage and .587 slugging percentage.

Bellarmine (23-16) is 10-6 in divisional play and currently sits in third-place in the GLVC East Division. The Knights will host Oakland City on Wednesday before going on the road to faceUW-Parkside this weekend.
