The Bellarmine University men's and women's track teams competed at Tennessee State University's Boston Moon Classic meet this Saturday April 10th. Both teams performed well and turned in stellar performances on the track.

Bellarmine senior Jason Thornsberry was the standout runner for the Knights as he took home first place in the men's steeplechase with a season best time of 9:41.98, while teammate freshman Joey Ward finished second with a time of 9:59.40.

On the women's team, senior Kristen Geiger also won the steeplechase event, finishing with a time of 11:23. Her time improved drastically from last week, shaving off 16 seconds and just missing the NCAA provisional mark of 11:20.

Senior runner Katie Hickey, who was fourth in last year's NCAA Division II Championship in the 3,000 meters, won that event at Tennessee State with a time of 10:01.78. She continued her success by also placed second in the 1,500 meters, finishing just behind Division 1 All-American Janet Jesang, a runner from Western Kentucky. Hickey's time of 4:33.15 is an NCAA provisional mark and a slight improvement of her school record.

Other top performances from the teams include those by freshman Nate Dotterweich and sophomore Joseph Kiefer. Dotterweich finished third in the 1500 meters event with a personal best time of 4:02.92 and doubled back in the 3,000 meters, winning in a Bellarmine freshman record time of 8:47.03. Kiefer finished third in the 400 meters event with a personal best time of 49.40.
