LOUISVILLE, KY- The BU women's soccer team continues to advance in the GLVC playoffs as they narrowly defeated Drury University 1-0 this past weekend at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
Stephanie Wilson scored the 20th-ranked Knights' lone goal of the match in the first half of the match. The game-winning goal came in the 38th minute when a Drury defender deflected a header by Allosin Menchak. Wilson tracked down the rebound and delivered a strike into the upper-right corner of the goal to put the Knights up for good.
Bellarmine has found success in narrow contests all season long, winning an incredible nine games by a margin of 1-0, and tonight was no different. The Knights played tough defense, allowing the visiting Panthers only two shots and goal and nine total shots. On the other side of the winner's circle, Bellarmine recorded eight shots on goal and 12 shots overall for the match. BU goalkeeper Amy Kunowski recorded a shutout in the match, while Panthers' keeper Jessie Sanderson tallied seven saves in the loss.
The victory advances BU to the GLVC semifinals where they will take on Quincy University this Friday and will be held at Northern Kentucky University.
