For the past few years, the women of Bellarmine University have banded together to perform Eve Ensler's play "The Vagina Monologues." The tradition will be continuing this year. Director Samantha Twyman, a Bellarmine senior, and assistant director Lauren Johnson, a junior, will be leading the actresses through three performances on March 12th and 13th. This is a departure from the traditional performance time of February in order to coincide with the Office of Multicultural Affairs Women's History Month events.
Morgan Miller-Bringle, a senior who is a veteran actress in the Monologues, said that she participates in the play because it is well-written and because she feels "honored to help educate people about global violence towards women and raise money for local battered women. It's a good feeling. When the audience leaves 'The Vagina Monologues,' I want them to be more aware about the ongoing violence towards women."
"The Vagina Monologues" is part of a larger initiative called the V-Day Campaign, which was started by playwright and women's advocate Eve Ensler in 1998. The goals of the Campaign include raising awareness about the plight of battered women in America and abroad, raising money to fund organizations that help these women and giving women a voice of pride when discussing their own bodies and experiences.
This year, the proceeds from Bellarmine's participation in the V-Day Campaign will go to help fund The Center for Women and Families and provide aid for women of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The article does not mention the time or building/room of where these performances would be held. I have contacted the helpful theater dept. at Bellarmine who did not have any information because the performances will be led by a student group, not the theater dept. (Continued…)
