My senior year so far has been full of amazing opportunities. One of those opportunities is my third internship at The Bridges Coalition. The Bridges Coalition is a broad-based private, non-profit organization. It is founded by business and economic development leaders in Louisville and Southern Indiana with the goal of completing the Ohio River Bridges Project as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.

My position as a Communication Intern tries to meet the goal of communicating with the public about The Bridges Coalition and The Ohio River Bridges Project. On the first day of work, I suggested to my supervisor that we create a facebook fan page to spread the word about the organization. She liked the idea and let me create the fan page on my own. It was my responsibility to update the facebook to inform the fans of upcoming events and new development on The Ohio River Bridges Project. We now have 90 fans on the fan page.

The Bridges Coalition has been caught in recent scandal. A few months ago, Leo Weekly did an article on The Ohio River Bridges Project and mentioned our organization in flattering context. The same week, all the Leo Weeklys in downtown were missing in the public newspaper vendors. It appeared that someone stole them. River Fields, a preservationist group, was allegedly accused by the community, even Leo Weekly, of stealing the magazines. River Fields happens to be The Bridges Coalition rival and they are against the Ohio River Bridges Project.

If there is one thing that I have learned from this internship, it is that you can never let your guard down. I also learned that anything exciting can happen, even if it is a group allegedly stealing Leo Weeklys.
