Last Thursday, Bellarmine hosted F.A.T. Thursday for freshman during Free Period. This event is held in order for freshman students to be introduced to their chosen majors. At this event students are encouraged to declare their major.

According to Erica Osborne, one of the event planners, over 300 students were in attendance. She was very excited about the tremendous turnout.

Students at the event were divided by their major. Each major group was led to a room by an upperclassman of that major. Students were able to talk to the upperclassmen about what to expect from that course of study. Professors were also in attendance to offer information about each major.

"We were very pleased with the great turnout that we had for F.A.T. Thursday. The freshmen really enjoyed interacting with professors from their major department and with other students majoring in the same area. Plus - the freshmen were able to get lots of great information about financial aid, career services, summer classes, and minors," said Erica Osborne Academic Resource Center's Developmental Advisor.

There was a lot of information available for students at this event. Representatives from career services, study abroad, and financial aid, were present to give students extra information about important information they will be needing in their future at Bellarmine.

"The event would not have been possible without the support of some wonderful upperclassmen student leaders or the faculty department chairs that so generously gave their time," Ms. Osborne went on to say.

F.A.T. Thursday proved to be a great success for freshman. If a freshman student was not able to attend the event, please come to the Academic Resource Center (Level A in the Library) to complete a major/minor declaration form. Students can also email Erica Osborne at eosborne@bellarmine.edu.
