SGA recently held their annual spring retreat to make plans for the new semester. The officers have set many goals to benefit students both on and off campus for the beginning of 2010. These goals follow a list of successes from fall 2009 and are sure to put students as the first priority.
SGA has two goals that they are continuing to work on for the students. This semester will bring a continuation of efforts to make the Café have more variety. SGA is working on getting junior sized portions and prices added to the menu. There is also to be an addition of more vegetarian options in both the Café and Kosters. In addition to these ideas, the committee has added getting refill privileges and even more to-go meal vending machines to the list.
For 2010, SGA will be exploring many options on how to make our campus more student friendly. The agenda includes a support of Health and Wellness programs, increase in funding for BU/ SGA's Go Green initiative and enforcing Bellarmine's new Smoking Ban.
Also, be aware of SGA current projects around campus. They are currently collecting donations from both the Café and Kosters for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. For every five dollars a student donates to Haiti, his/her name will be entered in a prize drawing. Sodexo has donated flex dollars for the prizes. The bookstore is also offering a sweatshirt/hoodie gift. This drive is continuing until the January 29.
Anyone who is interested in contacting SGA or staying up to date with the news is welcome to attend their biweekly meetings. The next meeting will be held on January 29, 2010. Or students can contact SGA through President Amy Puerto at apuerto01@bellarmine.edu.
