Twice a year a retreat for all college Catholics happens here in Kentucky. There are several different places this retreat is held. In the fall it was held at the EDGE mission house in downtown Louisville. This fall retreat was all about service and how to live your faith through service. It consisted of service for places around the area. One of the groups went to a local church, and another went to a homeless shelter.
At the local church they did lots of general clean up, including cleaning the gym that had things covering the floor for ages. By the end of the second day they had the whole entire church clean, including the gym. The outside of the homeless shelter needed to be painted. The group working on it finished painting the entire thing in two days.
"KCSC was a great opportunity to bond with people of the same faith from across the state while serving others" says Sara Hoffeditz when asked about her experience.
These retreats are meant to be a time when students can take time out of their busy schedule to get away and relax with people of their same age. It is a time of questioning and learning about their faith. This retreat is always a great time and is very relaxed and unstructured. There is a lot of time to wander about in nature.
"I made some wonderful memories" Sara said.
This spring the retreat will be held at Camp Andrew Jackson near Berea Kentucky. It is a beautiful camp that is owned by the Christian Appalachian Project. We will be there for three days and will be talking about prayer and the different styles of praying.
This retreat will be focused on the persons on retreat and will be a wonderful break from studies. For more information contact Sean Sullivan or Leah Hagan.
